Ford 500 - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By WK - December 10 - 12:06 amI drive the Ford 500 to work and I just love the reliability, and comfort of this vehicle. However, with the gas prices so high, it does make traveling expensive.

great vacation auto - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By vanwyk5 - October 29 - 1:10 pmWe just completed a family vacation with our new 500 - what a great car! We averaged 28.5 mpg and the kids (3) were comfortable considering we were in the car for 38 hours. The seats were very comfortable; I drove for eleven hours one day and did not have any aches and pains. We had three large suit cases and a full size cooler in the trunk and room to spare. The only complaint was driving in the mountains - the lack of lower gears was a problem because I was riding the brakes a lot. Otherwise this would make an excellent replacement for a minivan.

Love the room and ride - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By steve - September 26 - 3:53 pmReplaced a Dodge intrepid 94 with the new 500. Many new features and love the large seating and trunk. Picked the AWD, due to high speed stability. 2WD was twitchy on back roads. First tank of gas was 27.5 mpg. The body is tight and very good craftsmanship. The trunk can be rented out for an apartment.

My view from the Ivy Tower - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By Marion E. Hall - September 17 - 8:46 amThis is our first all wheel drive and our first CVT. This makes for some interesting situations when the car is in the cruse mode and you are in hilly areas. Overall, the car performed quite well.

My Last Ford - EVER - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By Carl D. Clark - September 6 - 10:00 amThe paint is coming apart on the leading edge of the hood, an obvious defect from the factory. The collision center manager at the dealer "confirmed" that it is a factory defect, and stated that ford is not standing up and warranting it. The dealer said it will cost $500 to repaint the hood and that they could not warranty the repair due to the problems with the aluminum hood. After contacting Ford Customer service I received a call from the dealer saying that they can get Ford to pay $200 of the $500 to repaint the hood. Today Ford Customer service said that this case is not closed. Never again.

Great car for the money - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By MEAHTUH - August 24 - 8:26 amLove the comfort, space, handling and fuel economy (high 20s consistently). I am partial to the styling vs. the new "Taurus" design. This is my wifes car which is used mainly for business. Incredible space in trunk for her samples. She can haul about as much as a pickup with seats down. No exaggeration. Problems so far - CD did not work soon after purchase and was replaced. Rear brakes! Worn out at 28K. Dealer said this was normal. We had them replaced at a local shop. 2 weeks later, received letter from Ford extending warranty on them to 36K miles - big deal. They should last longer than that. Received refund for the work we had done.

Buy a newer Taurus - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By Dondi - July 30 - 5:16 pmBought this vehicle with 19k miles on the odometer and remaining factory warranty. For a small V-6 (3.0) it performed very well. The 6 speed auto always had a gear appropriate for the traffic needs. At 53000 miles the rear rotors went metal to metal. Found that many owners go through rear pads every 20k miles. Ford has offered a pad with slightly different material that lasts as long as 30k miles. I did the repair myself and found that it had already been done before. My wife and I are very conservative drivers so the "premature" brake wear was a real concern. At 53k miles after the brake issue, we found a large oil leak coming from the rear main seal area. Traded to a Chevrolet Impala

From Explorer to 500 in under 2.8 second - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By fivehundredpa - July 19 - 2:00 amOverall, I am very impressed with the car. Ive only had it for over a month but so far it feels solid. After spending an entire year searching for a car to trade into from and SUV, this one had the best consumer reviews. Youd be amazed how many cars have horrible transmission problems. Got a 4 year bumper to bumper to help with Fords here and there reliability. The car feels nice on the road, handles snow decently. The stock tires I would throw into the sun if I could. Punch it and shell take off or just baby it and shell tug along. As for some folks complaint about power, its adequate and if you want pure performance then should have looked at a car with those specs.

Fantastic Vehicle! - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By Fran - July 10 - 1:20 pmMy family and I are amazed with this vehicle. You cant beat the amount of features you get for the price - we have the AWD Limited with all of the safety options. Ive never been a fan of "large" sedans, but the exterior doesnt look large at all while the interior is truly spacious. Its a pleasure to drive.

Not happy with Ford 500 - 2006 Ford Five Hundred
By Betsy - July 8 - 7:30 pmI purchased my Ford 500 1 year ago. I have had several problems...all which have been covered by warranties. My biggest complaint is with the brakes. I have had the pads replaced as often as I have had the oil changed, no joke. Also the rotars have been deglazed twice and turned once. Also there is a lot of road and engine noise while driving. I also had to replace the tires at 15k miles. Nothing lasts long on this car!!!
